Cornwall Primary Science Package 23-24 RN913 / E11

Summary

The package is a series of CPD sessions is designed to support primary science leads and teachers in delivering a high-quality science curriculum, enhancing teaching and learning in science, and strengthening teachers' subject knowledge.

The sessions cover various aspects of science education, including curriculum design, pedagogical approaches, assessment strategies, and practical experiments. The content is tailored to meet the specific needs and requirements of primary school science teaching.

By participating in these CPD sessions, primary science leads and teachers can gain a deeper understanding of the science curriculum and its objectives. They learn how to plan engaging and inclusive lessons that promote scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among their students. They explore key scientific concepts, theories, and principles, ensuring that educators have a solid foundation in the subject matter they are teaching. This knowledge enhancement enables teachers to confidently address students' questions and misconceptions, fostering a deeper understanding of science.

Furthermore, the CPD sessions provide a platform for collaboration and sharing among educators. Teachers can exchange ideas, experiences, and best practices with their peers, fostering a supportive professional network. This collaborative environment encourages teachers to reflect on their teaching practices, learn from each other, and continuously improve their instructional approaches.

Ultimately, the aim of the series of CPD sessions is to empower primary science leads and teachers to deliver a high-quality science education. By enhancing teaching and learning in science and supporting teachers' subject knowledge, these sessions contribute to the overall improvement of science education in primary schools.

All sessions are written by STEM Learning and other professional bodies to support the findings of the Ofsted Research Review. They are led by a science consultant to ensure that participants receive up to the minute information on science teaching and learning as well offering the opportunity to share good practice.  We collaborate with other organisations such as IOP, RSC and STEM Ambassador Hubs.

Why subscribe to the package?

Package membership gives access to high quality, facilitator led, subject specific CPD. By collaborating with other schools, we increase the opportunity for sharing expertise and good practice. Science teacher have access to a  network of colleagues, all of whom will be facing similar challenges and opportunities, and teachers can learn from each other. There are sometimes further opportunities for participating in projects, and schools that are already collaborating are better placed to apply for these (i.e. Ogden Trust and Enthuse partnerships)

How much does it cost my school?

The package will be priced at £600 pp including 6 face to face CPD sessions, refreshments and lunch but Stem Learning are offering a teacher release subsidy of £300 which would make the price @ £300.00 per school.

RETURNING SCHOOLS have an extra £100 TRP bringing it to a total of £200.

How can I claim my teacher Release payment?

This teacher release payment will be applied by STEM Learning. Your school will complete a BACS form. Up front when you sign up your school would pay for the entire package and receive the TRP back at the end of the course via BACS.
